Introduction
Project Goal
Collaborating with Klaus Johannes, an Estonian illustrator, to create an engaging and personalized e-commerce platform for ordering prints and other creations. The goal was to simplify the order process, showcase Klaus's retro-futuristic aesthetic, and provide users with a seamless and enjoyable art shopping experience.
Problem
Existing platforms lacked the ability to foster meaningful connections and customization for art enthusiasts. Users often struggled to find unique and personalized art experiences, leading to frustration and impersonal purchases.
Solution
Creating a user-centric e-commerce platform that seamlessly blended personalized interactions, vibrant aesthetics, and artist resonance. The platform offered a simplified order process, customization options, and effective artist communication. It reflected Klaus's retro-futuristic style, connected the community.
Empathize
In just two days, we conducted six user interviews and gathered 23 survey responses to improve the ordering experience for customers. The insights revealed the need for a more personal connection with the artist, increased customization features, and streamlined communication for commissioned artworks.
"I appreciate the presence of a narrative, especially the storytelling aspect around the product or the person. It is really important for me."
Alina
"I don't like to buy on Etsy or other art general platforms. I prefer online shops as they are more curated, offering a selection of more interesting items. In these shops, someone has either chosen or created the items, and there is often a unique story behind each piece."

Define
Ideate
The website for Klaus Aksberg aims to bridge this gap, creating a user-centric e-commerce solution that seamlessly blends personalized interactions, vibrant aesthetics, and artistic resonance. But how should we implement that?
Prototype
In our design journey, we started with manual sketches and progressed to digitized Low-Fidelity sketches, followed by extensive testing and adjustments. The iterative process led to a transformed landing page and a user-friendly Mid-Fi prototype. A thorough evaluation resulted in feasible changes for the High-Fi prototype, ensuring a refined and user-centric final product.

Colors — Typography — Style Tile
Retro-Futuristic: Blending futuristic elements with a nostalgic 80s style.
Artisanal: Embracing a hand-drawn, sketchy, and personalized touch.
Pop & Colorful: Vibrant, attention-grabbing, and rich in color.
Sarcastically Engaging: Infusing humor with an engaging tone.
Final Product
In the High-Fi phase, we maintained Dark Mode and incorporated the artist's images, while adding a footer and hand-drawn circles for an authentic style. Subtle adjustments were made for a smoother appearance, including an additional shopping cart and distinct workflows for commissions and other products in the checkout process. The Commission page was tailored for the iPhone 15 Pro screen for a seamless mobile experience. Check it out here!
